As the focus of combat has shifted from the oceans to coastal and inshore waters, it has become a real problem that how to deal with small surface ships at relatively close distances, especially all types of small craft and low-altitude aircraft that operate in a cluster mode. Taking into account the limitations of anti-ship, anti-aircraft missiles and medium-sized caliber naval guns in combating such targets, the U.S. Navy once again turned its attention to the small-caliber short-range artillery systems. In the early 1990s, the U.S.Special Operations Command proposed the Stable Weapon Platform System (SWPS) plan and the U.S. Navy's Advanced Small Caliber Artillery System (AMCGS) plan to launch the development of light naval gun systems and related tests. Test proved that improvement
