Objective To assess the motor skills and family environment of children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and provide clues for the etiology of DCD. Methods According to the diagnostic criteria of DSM-IV, the DCDQ questionnaire was used to screen two primary schools in Suzhou City in May 2006. A total of 41 children (DCD) were screened according to the 1: 1 ratio for exercise skills and family environment . Results DCD children’s dexterity, ball sports skills, dynamic / static balance were lower than the control group, with statistical significance; in addition, educational level of parents, family monthly total income, per capita residential area of DCD children have a significant impact Logistic regression analysis showed that the monthly total household income and living space per capita were the influencing factors of DCD. Conclusion For children with DCD, a multi-faceted and integrated intervention model of hospital-school-family participation should be established.
