解放以来,全国各省、市、自治区在毛主席革命路线指引下,认真贯彻落实《全国农业发展纲要》(1956—1967年)指出的应当积极防治麻风的任务。在各级党委的领导下,依靠广大医务人员和群众,本着“积极防治,控制传染”的原则,采取了“边调查、边隔离、边治疗”的办法,实行了领导、群众、专业人员相结合,全面落实宣传、调查、收容、隔离和积极治疗现症病人,加强病人管理和科学研究等综合防治措施。全国许多省、市、自治区已经取得显著成绩。
