桂木(Artocarpus Lingnanensis Merr),别名狗果树、白桂木、大叶胭脂,桑科常绿乔木,高可达17m,主干通直,有乳汁,树皮黑褐色,叶互生革质表面深绿色,长圆形至倒卵椭圆形,全缘,长7～15cm,宽3～7cm,叶柄长8～12mm,托叶佛焰苞状,早落。花单性雌雄异株,雄花序头状,单生于叶腋,雌花序近球形,单生于叶腋。聚花果近球形,直径约5cm,成熟红色,肉质,干时褐色,小核果10～15颗,花期4—5月。桂木树形优美,果实酸甜可口,营养价值高,是一个赏食俱佳的优良乡土阔叶树种。
