孙中山领导的辛亥革命从一开始就得到厦门人民的热烈响应。1906年2月,孙中山在新加坡主持成立中国同盟会南洋支部,推举祖籍厦门的新加坡华侨陈楚楠为会长,此后,在新加坡的厦门籍或闽南籍华侨林文庆、陈嘉庚、庄希泉、陈新政、邱明昶、郑永春、郑螺生、王雨亭等,在缅甸的厦门籍华侨庄银安、徐赞周、陈仲赫,在菲律宾的厦门籍华侨郑汉琪等资产阶级激进分子也先后加入同盟会。庄银安、徐赞周还被推举为中国同盟会缅甸分会的正副会长;郑汉琪被推举为中国同盟会菲律宾分会的会长。
The Revolution of 1911 led by Sun Yat-sen received a warm response from the people in Xiamen from the very beginning. In February 1906, Sun Yat-sen presided over the establishment of the China Alliance League’s Nanyang Branch in Singapore and the nomination of the overseas Chinese Chen Chumin, an ancestral native of Xiamen, as its president. Since then, Chinese-born or Taiwanese Chinese in Singapore, including Lin Wenqing, Chen Jiageng, Zhuang Xiquan, Chen Xinzheng, Qiu Mingchang and Zheng Yongchun Zheng Lubansheng, Wang Yuting, etc. Bourgeois activists in Xiamen, including overseas Chinese Zhuang Yinan, Xu Zanzhou and Chen Zhonghe in Xiamen, and Xiamen Overseas Chinese Zheng Hanqi in the Philippines also joined the league. Zhuang Yinan and Xu Zanzhou were also elected as the vice presidents of the Burmese branch of the Chinese Confederation; Zheng Hanqi was elected president of the Philippine branch of the Chinese Confederation.
