The World Trade Organization (WTO) (WTO) was formally established on January 1, 1995. It is a permanent international organization independent of the United Nations and is headquartered in Geneva. It replaced the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and administers the implementation of the Uruguay Round package, as well as the world economic and trade order. Headquartered in Brussels. The membership of the WTO increased from 113 at the time of its establishment in 1995 to 132 in May 1998, and 34 countries were engaged in negotiations to join the organization. The Bretton Woods Conference held in July 1944 had envisaged the establishment of an international trade along with the establishment of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund
