1991年12月19日上午,在厦门经济特区参加庆祝活动的江泽民总书记,为厦门大桥通车剪彩。国务院副总理田纪云、中共中央书记处候补书记温家宝、中顾委常委陈丕显、姬鹏飞、全国人大常委会副委员长叶飞、王汉斌、全国政协副主席洪学智、谷牧、王光英等党、政、军领导同志和国务院有关部委领导以及港、澳、台同胞、海外侨胞等二千多人参加了大桥通车典礼。
On the morning of December 19, 1991, General Secretary Jiang Zemin, who participated in the celebrations in the Xiamen Special Economic Zone, cut the ribbon for the opening of Xiamen Bridge. Tian Jiyun, Vice Premier of the State Council; alternate secretary of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat Wen Jiabao; Chen Pi Xian, Ji Pengfei, members of the Standing Committee of the Central Advisory Committee; Ye Fei and Wang Hanbin, vice-chairmen of the NPC Standing Committee; and leaders of the Party, government and army of the CPPCC National Committee Hong Xuezhi, Comrades and leaders of the relevant ministries and commissions under the State Council as well as more than 2,000 people including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots and overseas Chinese compatriots attended the opening ceremony of the bridge.
