本区上石盒子组发现的海绵岩可分为:硅质海绵岩、泥质海绵岩及含海绵骨针化石的硅质泥岩。本区海绵岩,从东往西从2层增到15层。由于海水进退的变化,海绵岩的堆积作用出现了自早而晚、东西方向的迁移。上述情况似可说明,晚二叠世早期秦岭古陆同淮阳古陆间有一个平驻海峡,淮阳古陆同苏鲁古陆间有一个嘉洪海峡。这一时期本区南北间的海水自由来往赖于这二个海峡的存在得以维持。本区海绵岩的发现,不但在重塑沉积环境上有一定的理论意义,同时对煤田勘探亦有一定的指导作用。
The sponge rocks found in the Upper Shihezi Formation in this area can be divided into siliceous sponge rock, argillaceous sponge rock and siliceous mudstone containing sponge bone pin fossils. Sponge rock in this area, from east to west from 2 to 15 layers. Owing to the variation of seawater advance and retreat, the accumulation of sponge rock appeared from morning to night and from east to west. The above may seem to indicate that in the early Late Permian, there was a stationed stationed in the strait between the Qinling ancient land and the Huaiyang ancient land, and there was a Jia-Hong Strait between the Huaiyang ancient land and the Sulugong land. During this period, the freedom of sea water between north and south in this area depends on the existence of these two straits being maintained. The discovery of sponge rock in this area not only has certain theoretical significance in reshaping the sedimentary environment, but also has some guidance to coalfield exploration.
