争议者因为处于五千年未有之大变局,正在转型的中国,这艘载着13亿人口的巨大航船,每一天都显得意义非凡。这块土地上的人们在热切拥抱着未来的时候,也在毫不犹豫地摒弃着过去。但更多的却是在为当取当舍争论不已。从政治到文化,从权利到义务,作家、诗人、官员、学者……几乎每个阶层都卷进其中。这些争论中的大部分都没有得出明确的结论,然而这未必是坏事,因为社会的进步恰恰孕育在这些争论中,甚至这种争论本身都是一种进步。争议并不可怕,可怕的是没有争议。
The controversial country is in transition because of the great change that has not taken place in 5,000 years. This huge ship carrying a population of 1.3 billion is of extraordinary significance every day. The people in this land are also abandoning the past without hesitation when embracing the future. But more are controversial for taking the proper course of action. From politics to culture, from rights to obligations, writers, poets, officials, academics ... almost every stratum involved. Much of the controversy has not come to a definitive conclusion, yet this is not necessarily a bad thing, because progress in society is precisely conceived in these debates, and even such debates are an improvement in themselves. Controversy is not terrible, horrible is not controversial.
