墨玉县位于塔克拉玛干沙漠的南缘,是新疆第二人口大县。随着经济的发展和卫生条件的改善,非传染性慢性病(慢性牙周炎、慢性肾脏病、高血压、糖尿病、肥胖等疾病)成为常见病、多发病。2005-2015年在国家自然科学基金项目支持下,本课题组在墨玉县开展慢性肾脏病流行病学研究,研究结果作为中国慢性肾脏病流行病学现状发表在柳叶刀杂志(Lancet.2012Mar 3,刘健为第二作者)。本课题组在2007年对墨玉县农村维吾尔族居民牙周炎的流行病学调查中发现该地区居民牙周炎
Moyu County is located in the southern margin of the Taklimakan Desert, Xinjiang’s second largest county.
