I. Soil and Water Loss and Its Implications for Sloping Cultivated Lands (I) Severity of Soil and Water Loss on Sloping Cultivated Land. In the middle reaches of the Yellow River, due to the large slope and loose soil, slope soil erosion is very serious. Table 1 shows the soil and water loss data of the sloping farmland observed by the three soil and water conservation pilot stations in Tianshui, Xifeng and Suide for many years.
