1997年9月1日,南阳市中级人民法院一审公开宣判,以贪污罪和故意杀人罪依法判处被告人原中国工商银行南阳分行工业路办事处副主任刘佳丽死刑,剥夺政治权力终身;以故意杀人罪分别判处被告人袁建伟、王天玉死刑,剥夺政治权力终身。刘佳丽自1993年9月至1996年近3年间,利用担任工行南阳市分行工业路办事处副主任职务之便。采取更改帐目,调款不入帐,伪造交款单办理汇票等手段,先后作案60余起,侵吞库款410万元。刘将这些款项大部分用于购买轿车,做期货生意,或供本人及其前夫、情夫挥霍,或随意借给他人或送礼拉关系等。案发后,追回赃款、赃物折款仅有100余万元,其余的300万元无法追回,给国家财产造成了重大损失。东窗事发后,刘为了嫁祸于人,勾结情夫袁建伟,雇用杀手王天玉,将另一情夫李永红杀死。
