After the Cold War ended, the power of the Communist Parties in developed countries was greatly lost and the struggle for socialism within capitalism became more difficult. Under such circumstances, they have to adjust their political opinions and tactics of struggle in order to gain their own survival and development. One of the main features of this adjustment is the left-wing “intermediation,” ideological and theoretical integration with traditional socialism, social democracy, neo-liberalism and environmentalism. In the struggle tactics to change some radical policies in the past, political propositions have shifted to mildness with the aim of winning more voters’ support. An analysis of the current situation of the Communist Parties in developed countries and the adjustment of their policies will help us correctly understand the prospects for the development of world socialism in the 21st century.
