文中试提出“体育工程学”这样一个边缘学科之说,来探讨创建新型学科——体育工程学的必要性和可能性、学科内容及范畴;探讨体育工程学的人才培养和在未来体育科学发展中的作用问题。谈及现代体育科学事业发展的长远性离不开诸多学科尖端技术和先进成果的支持,离不开边缘学科的交叉渗透与介入。而涉及边缘学科的发展、建设和应用问题,又直接影响着我国2008年申办奥运会成功后的整体体育事业的发展和提高。
