In the middle of 1965, a group of teachers from the Department of Sculpture of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts led a graduating class student to embark on a formidable and vast art project - creating a large-scale clay sculpture “rental house” for the Dayi Manor Pavilion in Sichuan. The whole process of clay modeling lasted 4 and a half months, a total of 114 characters, including 96 positive figures and 18 negative figures. The clay sculpture up to 96 meters, was arranged in a gallery around the collection of 118 meters in length, divided into “forced to pay rent ”, “rent ”, “ , ”To struggle " 4 parts. By depicting the rent collection process, the work shows the conflicts and struggles between classes and exposes the exploitation and oppression of peasants by the landlord class.
