经国务院批准,由国家教育部、国家体育总局、共青团中央联合主办,四川省人民政府承办的全国第六届大学生运动会在四川省成都市举行。这是在世纪之交,特别是香港澳门回归后的第一次大学生体育盛会。广东省大学生体育代表团参加了本届大运会设立的田径、游泳、篮球、排球、足球、武术和健美操等全部8个项目的比赛。组团人员达292人,为历届之最。全团人员肩负全省人民的重托和希望,在历时8天的比赛中,团结一致,不畏强手,奋力拼搏,共夺得33块金牌,26块银牌,10
Approved by the State Council, the 6th Universiade hosted by the Ministry of Education, the State Sports General Administration and the Communist Youth League Central Committee and hosted by Sichuan Provincial People’s Government is held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. This is the first college sports event to be held at the turn of the century, especially after the return of Hong Kong and Macao.
