一离开家乡 1914年10月20日,我出生在山西省方山县吉家庄村。我祖父叫杨全亿,出身贫农,因家中没有孩子,出钱领养了我父亲,取名杨成喜。后来家中劳动力较强,加上人口少,生活逐渐富裕起来。有一年家乡遇到天灾,土地价格骤跌,祖父用积蓄购买了几十亩田地,成了富农。当时家中生活不错,而且还有余田出租,有余钱放债。我们村中有百余户人家,其中有4户地主,4户富农,20多户中农,其余是贫农、雇农和佃农。我们家算小富农,有几十亩田。父亲娶亲后,陆续生下了我们2女3男,那时祖父已经生病,加上我们念书交学费的负担,家境每况愈下。当时我在汾阳县河汾中学念书,初中没有毕业就辍学了,而弟妹们只念到小学,就无力再升学。祖父生病用了不少钱,祖父去世后,又遇到舅父做生意破产,家中为了帮助舅父,卖了几亩水田帮他还债。等
