Juvenile chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a rare myeloproliferative disease in infants and young children, except for allogeneic bone marrow transplantation there is no effective treatment. In vitro, 13-cis retinoic acid inhibits the spontaneous proliferation of peripheral blood progenitor cells (CFU-GM) and selectively inhibits its sensitivity to granulocyte-monocyte stimulating factor (GM-CSF).
