Recently, the Guanghan Sanxingdui, in the remote southwestern province of Sichuan, had a rare Bronze Age discovery. The region and the surrounding area of Chengdu are known both for the Han and later Buddhist art, but few have found evidence of cultural development comparable to the highly developed Bronze Age of North China and the Central Plains in the past.
