正当本通报这一期发刊的前夕,欣逢苏联十月社会主义革命40周年,本报编辑部谨以欢欣鼓舞的心情来迎接人类历史上的这一伟大节日.四十年来,社会主义苏联在政治、经济和文化各方面都有着飞躍的发展,在不少方面都已超过最先进的资本主义国家,在数学方面也不例外.苏联的伟大成就照亮了我们前进的道路,为了更好地学习苏联来建设我们的国家,我们特邀请在各方面工作的部分数学工作者举行笔淡,介绍苏联在数学研究中的伟大成就以及在党和政府的领导与号召下他们学习苏联的收获与体会,这样好使我们更进一步地认识苏联,学习苏联.现在我们把收到的稿件分科学研究与教学两方面按收到先后为序发表于后:
