This study investigated the effects of low-molecular chromium conjugates on chromosome aberrations and sister chromatid exchange in human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Chromosomal aberration rates in the experimental groups of hexavalent chromium (K_2Cr_2O_7 and CrO_3) were significantly higher than those in the control group, but there was no significant difference in the chromosome aberration rate between the trivalent chromium and low-molecular-chromium conjugate groups in the experimental group. The mean number of sister chromatid exchanges per cell in the hexavalent chromium and trivalent chromium experimental groups was significantly higher than that in the control group, but there was no significant difference between the low molecular weight chromium conjugate experimental group and the control group.
