This article aims to compare the phenotypic properties of Staphylococcus aureus strains from pneumonia patients and healthy adult carriers. Of the 33 Staphylococcus aureus studied, 5 were from patients with post-influenza staphylococcal pneumonia; 7 were from patients with staphylococcal pneumonia but no recent history of influenza, and 21 were from the nasopharynx of carriers.
