马辛(又名细辛)系马兜铃科植物杜衡 Asarum forbesii Maxim 的全草。药理研究表明,马辛挥发油具有明显的中枢抑制作用,能显著减少小鼠自发活动,对戊巴比妥钠或硫喷妥钠有明显协同作用。静脉注射马辛挥发油使兔翻正反射消失约5分钟,能对抗电休克和戊四氮引起的惊厥,能增加小鼠对缺氧的耐受能力,但不能对抗苯两胺的毒性。另外还有降温作用。
