我国第一座农业科技档案馆——南通农业科技档案馆于1990年11月26日在江苏南通市隆重开馆。国家档案局为南通农业科技档案馆开馆发来了贺电。十一届三中全会以来,南通市的农业科技档案工作有了较快的发展,全市已形成市县区乡四级农业科技档案工作网络体系,全市农业科技档案的总数已增加到174000余卷,并以每年8000至10000卷的数量递增。农村专业户建档工作也已全面铺开,现有建档二年以上的专业户498户,已组卷8396卷。为了适应全市不断发展的农业科技档案工作新形势,更好地为全市“科技兴农”服务,经国家农业部与省农市林厅批准,于1987年开始筹建南通农业科技档案馆,
