Objective To investigate the role of Survivin in promoting angiogenesis in gastric carcinogenesis. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of Survivin and MVD in chronic non-atrophic gastritis, precancerous lesions and gastric carcinoma. The relationship between the expression of Survivin and the clinicopathological parameters of gastric cancer was analyzed. The relationship between Survivin expression and MVD was analyzed . Results The positive rate of Survivin protein in gastric cancer was 71.67%, significantly higher than that in chronic non-atrophic gastritis (3.33%) and gastric precancerous lesions (30.00%), the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05) The expression was related to tumor differentiation, local invasion of gastric cancer, lymph node metastasis and TNM staging (P <0.05). The expression of MVD in Survivin positive gastric cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues was higher than that in Survivin negative gastric cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues (P <0.05). Conclusion Survivin overexpression is an early event in the development of gastric cancer and may promote the angiogenesis of gastric cancer.
