叶挺将军是北伐名将,曾率领以共产党员为骨干的国民革命军第四北伐先遣独立团挥师北伐,铸就了“铁军”的辉煌;他是抗日英雄,为国共两党公认的国民革命军陆军新编第四军军长,“领导抗战,卓著勋劳”。在他传奇的一生中,为了中华民族的民主和独立,始终坚持“道不同不相与谋”的原则,从孙中山先生的信徒到中国共产党引以为荣的人民英雄和民族英雄,尤其是他为最终投入中国共产党的怀抱,进行了20余年的奋斗,经历了种种严峻的考验。他坚定不移的入党情怀,堪称共产党人的楷模。
