在现代文明的光环下,人类自身变得越发脆弱了。假如汽车无法开动,电灯不能亮了,电视没了图像与声音,电脑成了摆设,这是一幅多么可怕的景象。但是这种情景是完全可能发生的,如果人类不能尽快地找到一种取之不尽、用之不竭的终极能源,现代生活所严重依赖的电力资源将从何而来呢?毕竟,人类目前所依赖的石油、煤炭、天然气等矿物能源是有限的、不可再生的,依目前人类耗能的平均速度计算,2050年前后石油就会枯竭。
