In the improvement of the pipa, I have experimented with opening holes in the back plate (see the first issue of 1977, “A Brief Introduction to the Improvement of Pipa”) in order to adjust the two lower columns so as to achieve a certain degree of improvement Poor piano sound quality purposes. Recently, on this basis, we made an attempt to attach the soundboard and received some results. The additional soundboard has a thickness of 4.5mm and a slightly thinner edge. In the additional soundboard (middle of the two lower bar) to open a 50mm diameter tuning hole, in order to adjust the sound column. The hole is concentric with the movable plate of the back plate, but there is no flap. The dotted lines on both sides of the attached soundboard in the figure indicate the part which is glued with the backboard, and the rest is overhead on the backboard.
