1990~1994年与飞机造林困难地区进行人工混播造林试验的同时,又在砚山、保山、永胜等县市的22个播区,从低海拔的干热河谷到高海拔的低温湿润山地,进行了车桑子、山毛豆、银合欢、山合欢、滇合欢、银荆、黑荆、华山松等与云南松或思茅松的飞机混播造林试验示范。参试的10个树种均各有一定的适应能力和良好的成苗效果,试验示范的总成效面积为4.22万hm2,成效率达70%以上,大部分试区的成苗保存密度均在6000株/hm2以上,达到“规程”要求。试验结果表明:1500m以下的干热地带应选用车桑子、山毛豆、山会欢、银合欢作飞机混播造林树种,海拔1600~2400m的干旱、半干旱及湿润山地、可选用车桑子、山毛豆、山合欢、滇合欢、银荆、黑荆分别与云南松、思茅松进行混播造林;海拔2500~3000m左右,宜用华山松与云南松(高海拔种源)混播造林。
