党确定了正确的航向 2002年11月8日中共十六大召开。十四大是在1992年10月12日召开的,间隔10年。如从1989年十三届四中全会确定第三代领导算起,则间隔13年,现已跨入了新世纪,进入了新的航程。以江泽民总书记为核心的第三代领导集体高举邓小平理论的旗帜,在建设有中国特色社会主义的道路上大步迈进。2001年江总书记在建党80周年的“七一”讲话中提出了“三个代表”的重要思想,得到全党全国人民的拥护,推动了党的事业胜利前进。香港、澳门分别于1997年7月1日、1999年12月20日回归了祖国,十五届五中全会宣布,新世纪进入了全面建设小康社会和加快推进现代化建设的新阶段。2001年7月,中国申办2008年奥运会成功,11月又加入了WTO,在世界经济不景气中,中国经济的持续发展难能可贵。尽管在发展过程中还存在着这样那样的问题,但中国的经济持续发展、人民生活的不断改善和国际地位的日益提高,是国内外所公认的。这说明我国的航向和决策是正确的。
The Party has set a correct course. On November 8, 2002, the 16th CCP Congress held. The 14th National Congress was held on October 12, 1992, at an interval of 10 years. If the third generation of leaders were to be determined at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 13th CPC Central Committee in 1989, they have now entered a new voyage with an interval of 13 years now entering the new century. The third generation of collective leadership with General Secretary Jiang Zemin as the core holds aloft the banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory and made great strides forward in building socialism with Chinese characteristics. In 2001, General Secretary Jiang put forward the important idea of “three represents ” in the “July 1” speech for the 80th anniversary of the founding of the party and won the support of the entire party and the people throughout the country, which promoted the victory of the party’s cause. Hong Kong and Macao returned to the motherland on July 1, 1997 and December 20, 1999 respectively. The Fifth Plenary Session of the 15th Central Committee announced that the new century has entered a new phase of building an overall well-to-do society and accelerating the modernization drive. In July 2001, China successfully bid for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games and joined the WTO in November. During the global economic downturn, China’s sustained economic growth is commendable. Although such problems still exist in the course of development, China’s sustained economic development, continuous improvement of people’s lives and ever-increasing international status are recognized at home and abroad. This shows that our country’s course and decision-making are correct.
