2012年2月7日,尼康公司全球同步发布了尼康D800和D800E,作为当时数码单反相机产品的一次技术革命,取消低通滤镜成为了尼康提升画质的一次冒险,为了尽可能避免技术风险,尼康推出了保留低通滤镜的D800和取消低通滤镜的D800E,并让两款相机同时上线,作为一种补全,在已经拥有了一套完整轻便型全画幅的D610生产线的基础上,又推出了外形极为复古的全画幅单反相机Df,尼康以其丰富的产品线从容地完成全画幅中低高端的布局。
