Among the different materials containing calcium hydroxide, we found that Dycal, a calcium hydroxide preparation, can stimulate dentin bridge formation in pulp tissue. Its potency on pulp is less irritating than pure calcium hydroxide. Other products containing calcium hydroxide differ from Dycal in that Dycal's base and catalyst quickly become lumpy and have an X-ray similar to dentin. The purpose of this article is to analyze the efficacy of Dycal with gutta percha to be used as a root canal filling.
