Recently, the Brookings Institution of the United States think tank released the report entitled “Advanced Industries in the United States”, outlined the industrial layout in the process of U.S. “re-industrialization” and elaborated the definition and geographical features of advanced industries. The report selected 50 top industries in the United States, deconstructing the industry characteristics of different metropolitan areas and elaborating on the employment changes brought about by these industries. What is the Advanced Industry in the United States? According to the report definition, advanced industries must meet two criteria: a large amount of R & D spending; and a large number of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) degree staff.
