超硬、高强度陶瓷含有硅、铝、氧、氮,该陶瓷可以用热压或普通烧结方法制备。把该陶瓷机加工成较好的外形是昂贵的。现在日本古闲钢制造公司(NKK)研制成氮氧硅铝/氮化硼混合物,可如金属状态一样几乎可以完全机加工然后轻烧结。 日本古闲钢制造公司与日本东京和九州工业科学技术学会高熔材料制造者一起研制了一种烧结方法。这种烧结方法是将金属基粉末烧结、机加工,在高温下经过氮化反应得到陶瓷混合物。 机加工费用只有一般加工氮氧硅锂陶瓷方法的10%。此外,在最后阶段体积变化是小的,因此新材料适合制造高精度的形状复杂的零件。
