中国科学院图书馆所藏抄本《北平谢氏藏书总目》一书,考证之语简洁精要,在有清一代版本学发展长流中占有一席之地。然其作者长期无考。本文根据抄本《诗人主客图》书中钤印和谢宝树之跋、嘉庆刻本《岁寒小草》书前小传等确定该书作者为清代嘉庆道光时北京地区重要藏书家谢宝树。其人精于典籍版本的鉴别与内容的考订,勤于收藏,日事丹铅,抄校不辍。然后人对其行历与藏书活动的记述多语焉不详,致使其人隐微而不彰。
