对陕南柞水试验点原七坪、下梁、西川三乡３．５ 岁以下２０５ 名儿童的智能发育状况研究表明：①该地区３．５ 岁以下儿童的智能发育低于量表的常模水平，主要表现在应物能与言语能的发育商偏低；②儿童的智能发展在该试验点表现出的特点是随着儿童年龄的增长，由于社会文化刺激因素的缺乏，儿童在个别行为能区的发育商有递减趋势。
