In 1939, there has been controversy over the role of excess growth hormone in the etiology of diabetes. This article reports on the possible effects of initial insulin therapy on correcting abnormal growth hormone and its time in newly diagnosed diabetic patients. The authors tested growth hormone in five newly diagnosed male patients with essential diabetes who were insulin-treated before and after insulin therapy and compared them to the normal seven. Patients aged 16 to 27 years of age, weight at diagnosis are lower than the normal standard, and typical symptoms, no obvious ketone defects, acidosis. After the diagnosis began to study the determination of plasma growth hormone concentrations within 24 hours. Thereafter, all patients were treated with normal and intermediate-effect insulin (NPH) twice a day before breakfast and dinner. After 1 month of treatment, all cases were re-admitted to the hospital and the determination of growth hormone was repeated. In 2 cases, the secretion of growth hormone was still significantly abnormal in the islets
