Sun Microsystems recently introduced Enterprise 10000 (also known as Starfire), a computer system that can be upgraded to a 400MHz UltraSPARC Gen2 processor and a 100MHz Gigaplane with processing speeds of up to 3000MIPS (millions of instructions per second). The Starfire server is equipped with a 400MHz UltraSPARC II processor and a 100MHz Gigaplane-XB interconnect designed specifically for data centers.
