To explore the characteristics of sudden onset of deafness in the elderly and to guide the clinical diagnosis and treatment, the clinical manifestations, complications and prognosis of 45 elderly patients with deafness over the age of 60 were compared with 57 cases of young and middle-aged deafness. The results showed that among the 45 cases, 24 cases (53.3%) had cardiovascular disease, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (P <0.05). The elderly group hearing loss curve more common (35.6%), the control group to rise more common curve (38.6%). At admission, the average hearing of the two groups was 87.3dB and 84.6dB, respectively. After treatment, the average hearing of the elderly group increased by 20.5dB and that of the control group by 38.9dB. Research shows that the elderly sudden deafness often associated with higher cardiovascular disease, although these cardiovascular disease is not the cause of elderly sudden deafness, but the prognosis of elderly patients with sudden deafness.
