美国地震学会依照学会章程的第12条和1975年年度选举的细则设立了学会奖章。这个奖章对那些在地震学或地震工程学方面作出的杰出贡献给予奖赏。1981年第六次奖章,授予乔治·豪斯纳教授(Professor George W.Housner)。
The American Seismological Society established the Society Medal in accordance with Article 12 of the statute of the Association and by-laws of the 1975 Annual Election. This medal will reward those who made outstanding contributions in seismology or earthquake engineering. Sixth Medal of 1981, awarded to Professor George W. Housner.
