Parallel processing technology is the only way of high-speed real-time digital signal processing. The development of VLSI provides a reliable basis for parallel processing. Many signal processing algorithms are characterized by regularity, recursion, and local data correlation. Pulsation arrays and wavefront arrays effectively exploit these features by maximizing VLSI computing power and avoiding global communications. This article will analyze and discuss the algorithms, structures and applications of pulsating and wavefront array processors.
