Through questionnaire and in-depth interviews with R schools in Beijing, this article reveals the embarrassment of the Chinese-style “home-study school” and the resulting dilemmas and inequalities in teachers, resources and opportunities. On the one hand, this system is not embarrassed by the system of state recognition, on the other hand, it is also the education inequality brought by the unfair system of society such as household registration. By introducing American-style “home-study”, the article thinks that the most important issue at present is to legislate Chinese-style “go to school at home” and allow it to exist in a reasonable way and regulate it. Education is a part of society, and education reform is subject to social system. Only changing the current watch-status of “home-at-home” schools can eventually change this kind of educational inequality.
