1925年,我4岁,那时正是国共合作时期,这年我随父母从老家惠来县到了汕头市的第三小学。当时,这地方是革命活动的据点之一。在三小,我不时看到周恩来、邓颖超、恽代英、彭湃等来参加会议,陈赓更是常来的客人。我的母亲虽然文化不高,但她是培育我懂得革命道理的启蒙老师。母亲告诉我:“惠来穷,所以参加红派的人就多(当时人们把共产党和共产党领导的队伍称为红派)。来俺学校的那些叔伯阿姨都是大好人……”小小年纪的我感到能生活在这个环境,能与许多大好人来往,觉得特别的神气。
