ADMYDA-3 is an acronym for Atorvastatin for Reduction of Myocardial Dysrhythmia After Cardiac Surgery. It reflects only a week before cardiac surgery with statins to prevent postoperative atrial fibrillation (atrial fibrillation). The authors said: “Inflammatory mechanisms may be involved in atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery”; “Our study suggests that statins may help prevent the onset of arrhythmias.” 2
