What is a virus? A virus is an organism, but with other organisms (including microbes, including) there are significant differences. Viruses are characterized by: (1) the genetic material has only one type of nucleic acid, either DNA or RNA; (2) the virus particle can not grow or divide; (3) the energy generating system, the ribosome and the RNA are missing. Therefore, the virus must utilize host cells for viral replication. What is an insect virus? An insect virus is an insect that hosts a virus that is endemic in the host population. According to the statistics, about 100 kinds of insect viruses were found in 1949; 200 species were found in 1960; In 1975, David listed 721 kinds of insects and mites as viruses. In 1977, Martignoni and Iwai A list of 1,000 species of viruses infecting insects and mites; documented in 1984, at home and abroad from 11 orders 900 species
