利用地磁日变形态异常预报地震是以磁报震的方法之一,其依据是感应磁效应.在地震孕育过程中,可能伴随着地下电导率的某种变化,从而使变化磁场的感应场产生一定异常.这种异常在垂直分量上表现尤为明显.一般说来,异常总是相对于正常背景规律的非随机偏离.目前,以磁报震工作的特点是从强背景变化信号中提取较弱的震磁信息,所以详细研究背景场的变化规律对判别地震前兆异常是极其重要的.利用长期积累的地磁日变化资料,主要是磁静日变化资料进行一些统计分析,可以找出一个正常的背景变化规律.众所周知,地磁日变化一般可分为磁静日变化(Sq)和磁扰日变化(Sd)两类.在一日之内,磁变图上的曲线升降起伏很平稳光滑,这一天就叫磁静日;反之,如果曲线急剧上下北在短时间内起伏次数很多,或升降幅度很大,则叫磁扰日.每月选取5天磁静日,5天磁扰日.我国现使用的是国际地磁指数服务机构——西德哥廷根大学
