彭阳林业站1980年秋引进山楂苗,1983年已有7株开花结果,当年新梢生长最长达1.7米。三年来尚未发现有冻害。1983年又引进山楂嫁接苗1012株,成苗619株,成苗率达61.2％。当地的物候期,初花在5月下旬,花期一个月。果实在10月上旬成熟。果实平均纵径2.4厘米,横径为2.3厘米,平均单果重6.5克。山楂适应性广,抗逆性强,能耐零下40℃左右的低温,而固原山区冬季历年极端最低
