Yunnan Provincial Department of Construction and Provincial Design Institute assisted by Dr. Richard Schumacher of Masonry Building in the United States with the assistance of the Provincial and City Reform Offices through Lumei Financial Trading Co., Ltd., and Dr. Fan Haidi and China Electronics Industry Ministry Professor Wang Mogeng of the Design Institute recently gave a lecture in Kunming. The related professional and technical personnel attending the lectures came from about 50 departments and about 150 people in various design institutes and constructions in Yunnan Province related to new types of wall materials. According to the national standard [seismic design code for buildings (GBJ11-89)] promulgated in 1989, and the [concrete small hollow block building technical code (JGJ/714-95)] promulgated in 1995, the earthquake intensity is 9 degrees. It is not appropriate to use small concrete blocks. From June to July 1997, the Provincial Office of the Provincial Office of the People’s Republic of China carried out inspections on the wall reforms of 11 prefectures, states, and cities in accordance with the requirements of the provincial government.
