Objective: To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and cell adhesion molecule CD15 and its relationship with the grade, metastasis and prognosis of osteosarcoma. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of VEGF and CD15 in 38 cases of osteosarcoma. The biological behavior of osteosarcoma and clinical follow-up data were analyzed and evaluated. At the same time set 10 cases of osteochondroma as a negative control group. Results: The positive rate of VEGF in osteochondroma was 20.0% (2/10) and the expression of CD15 was negative. The expression rates of VEGF and CD15 in osteosarcoma tissues were 76.3% (29/38) and 65.8% (25/38), respectively. VEGF was not associated with pathological grade, P = 0.391; CD15 was associated with pathological grade, P = 0.028. Both VEGF and CD15 were associated with metastasis, with r values of 0.612 and 2.06957, respectively. The 5-year survival rates of CD15 and / or VEGF positive expression were significantly lower than those of negative expression group (P = 0.001). The survival rates of patients with positive expression of CD15 and VEGF were the lowest, while those with negative expression of both were the highest. Conclusion: VEGF and CD15 are important biological indicators of osteosarcoma metastasis and poor prognosis. Both of them have synergistic effects on the occurrence and metastasis of osteosarcoma. Clinically, the detection of VEGF and CD15 expression in the prognosis of patients with osteosarcoma has important value.
