珠江是南中国第一大河,源出云南,流经贵州、广西,最后由广东入南海.明代旅行家徐霞客曾专门考察其源头,但未得出正确结论.经科学工作者先后五次详察,确定珠江正源头在曲靖市炎方区马雄山东麓水洞处.马雄山位于曲靖市区东北47公里处.海拔2448米.远看犹如一匹悠闲斜卧在高原台地上的骆驼,头向西南伸至白浪水库,尾往西北摆于偏桥水库,马雄山峰和老高山则构成驼峰.
